The Battle of Narva 1944.
Some of the heaviest and bloodiest fighting of the entire Eastern Front Campaign of World War 2 took place on the soil of one of the European Unions member states, Estonia. Particularly in the east of the country in the area of the City of Narva where during the titanic struggle between the German Wehrmacht and the Red Army, over 200,000 men became casualties.
These Battles came to be known as the Battle of the EUROPEAN SS due to the numbers of Waffen SS Volunteers from European countries , Dutch, Danes , Flemings, Norwegians , Swedes and Estonians who served in the Units of the Waffen SS who were committed to the fighting.
